Gfoundation at the Paterson Block Party: A Day of Joy, Care, and Community
On August 16th, 2025, Gfoundation participated in the annual Paterson Community Block Party, a neighborhood gathering hosted by Paterson Task Force and Pilgrim Mission Church outside the Hilltop Haven Family Shelter in Paterson, NJ. Hilltop Haven, where Gfoundation has long supported single mothers and women in need of protection, stands as a vital place of refuge and care for the community.
For the past few years, this event has done more than close down a city block for a day of festivities. It has created a space of belonging and hope for those in great need. What was once just another street corner has been transformed into a lively hub of music, food, and connection—where families, especially single mothers facing housing insecurity and economic hardship can gather to experience joy and celebration as the summer winds down.
Small Gifts, Bigger Smiles
While the day was primarily organized as a back-to-school celebration for children—this time, Gfoundation prepared and distributed custom necklaces in varying sizes and styles: simple, stylish accessories that allowed children to express themselves.
Families were also offered toothbrushes and hair waxes—practical items that meet everyday needs while reminding us that even the smallest essentials matter. Through these gifts, we hoped to give single mothers a brief moment of self-care and relief. Many children showed generosity by sharing these items with their siblings and friends.
A Collective Celebration of Community
Beyond Gfoundation’s contribution, the day was filled with activities and resources. Families received free backpacks and school supplies from the Paterson Rotary Club, enjoyed BBQ and music, and connected with vital local support services.
Amid the celebration, our Gfoundation team had the joy of speaking with children as they eagerly shared what grade they were entering and what they were most excited about—from reuniting with friends to diving into favorite classes.
These conversations reminded us that every child carries dreams, a future, and goals they are eager to pursue. Local gatherings like this one are a powerful reminder that when people come together, hope and opportunity grow stronger.
