Providing Menstrual Products for Women in Louisville

Access to menstrual products is an essential part of everyday health and well-being. Yet for women managing financial hardship or rebuilding their lives in a new community, purchasing pads and other period care products can add pressure to an already limited household budget.

This summer, GFoundation continued its partnership with Catholic Charities of Louisville (CCL) by donating menstrual products for women participating in the organization’s programs, including single mothers and refugee women rebuilding their lives in Louisville.

Through this continued partnership, practical supplies are available locally and can be distributed as needs arise.

Continuing Our Partnership with Catholic Charities of Louisville

Earlier this year, GFoundation began working with Catholic Charities of Louisville, a service agency of the Archdiocese of Louisville, to support women and families in the local community.

In July, GFoundation continued this partnership by providing 60 packages of menstrual pads and 24 packages of panty liners.

The products were stored at CCL’s facilities so staff could distribute them directly to women in their programs as needs arise. This approach allows essential menstrual products to remain available locally for women who need them.

Why Access to Menstrual Products Matters

Menstrual products are a recurring necessity.

For single mothers managing household expenses and refugee women adjusting to life in a new country, the ongoing cost of pads and other hygiene essentials can create additional financial pressure.

Reliable access to period products can help women manage their periods with greater comfort and confidence while continuing their everyday responsibilities.

Providing these essentials is a practical way to respond to an ongoing need.

Local Partnerships Help Support Ongoing Needs

Effective community support depends on trusted local relationships.

By working with Catholic Charities of Louisville, GFoundation can provide menstrual products through an organization that has established relationships with the women and families it serves.

CCL staff can distribute the donated products according to needs identified through their programs. This local approach helps connect practical resources with women through an existing network of community support.

The partnership also reflects an important principle behind GFoundation’s work: meaningful assistance should respect each person’s dignity, individual circumstances, and cultural background.

Supporting Single Mothers and Refugee Women with Practical Care

The women receiving support through CCL have different experiences and needs.

Some are single mothers balancing childcare and household responsibilities. Others are refugee women establishing new lives in the United States and adjusting to unfamiliar communities and systems.

While their circumstances may differ, access to basic hygiene essentials is an important part of everyday life.

Through continued partnerships and practical donations, GFoundation works to help make these essential items more accessible to women who need additional support.

We are grateful to Catholic Charities of Louisville for its continued partnership and to every donor and supporter who helps make this work possible.

Together, we can continue expanding access to essential menstrual products and supporting women with practical, respectful care.
