Supporting Single Mothers with Monthly Care Packages

For single mothers raising children while managing limited household resources, the cost of everyday essentials can add up quickly. Food, menstrual products, and personal care items are recurring needs, and having reliable access to them can help ease some of the pressure families face each month.

Through its Single Mother Support Program, GFoundation provides monthly care packages with practical items for single mothers and their families. In June, the packages included food, menstrual products, personal care supplies, and reusable insulated tumblers for the summer season.

The packages were made possible through a combination of in-kind donations, a student-led donation drive, and additional items purchased for participating families.

What Was Included in the June Care Packages?

Each monthly care package is prepared with the everyday needs of participating families in mind. The June packages included:

• Sanitary pads and other menstrual care essentials
• Towelettes and soap for personal and household use
• Canned goods and condiments
• Rice for family meals
• 24 oz. Stanley Ice Tumblers for reusable hydration during the summer

The insulated tumblers were a seasonal addition to the June packages. For mothers balancing work, errands, childcare, and other daily responsibilities, a reusable cup that keeps drinks cold can be a practical item during hot summer days.

Rather than focusing on a single type of assistance, the monthly packages bring together food, hygiene products, and other useful items to support families in their daily lives.

How Community Support Comes Together

The June care packages show how different forms of community support can work together.

GFoundation received in-kind product support from Good360, while students from Art and Design High School in New York City collected and donated hygiene products. Additional food items, including rice, were purchased from H Mart to complete the packages.

By combining product donations, community donation drives, and purchased essentials, GFoundation can prepare packages that respond to a range of everyday household needs.

This collaborative approach also creates different ways for the community to participate. Companies can contribute products. Schools and community groups can organize donation drives. Individual donors can help sustain ongoing programs for single mothers and their children.

Why Consistent Support Matters for Single-Mother Families

A care package cannot address every challenge a family may face. However, consistent access to everyday necessities can help reduce some immediate household expenses and allow families to use limited resources for other priorities.

This is why GFoundation’s support for single mothers is designed as an ongoing effort rather than a single seasonal distribution.

Month by month, the program provides practical assistance while reminding participating mothers that members of their community are willing to stand alongside them.
