In Madagascar, where the term Fihavanana represents harmony, unity, and deep family connections, we recently had the privilege of extending support to needy people especially the children. We are currently taking family photos by visiting villages where there are no photo studios. As part of our ongoing efforts, we also distributed bread to help address the widespread hunger affecting this island nation

Madagascar ranks among the most affected countries on the Global Hunger Index, with a 2023 score of 41.0, classified as “alarming.” Over 51% of the population suffers from undernutrition, and nearly 40% of children experience stunted growth. These figures are exacerbated by climate change and structural vulnerabilities that have pushed the country to the brink of famine in recent years. (GHI 2023)

The photographer, Shin Misik visited local communities, providing much-needed bread to children. While a simple act, this distribution represents more than just food—it is a symbol of care and solidarity in the face of extreme challenges. We hope that these small gestures can help ease the burden for families struggling with malnutrition.

Alongside this immediate aid, we recognize the importance of preserving moments of joy and connection, especially for families who face such difficulties daily.
As part of our Frame Our Moment campaign, we also capture family memories in Madagascar—giving families something priceless: a photograph to cherish.

Many families in Madagascar rarely have the opportunity to take a family portrait due to a lack of infrastructure and the high costs associated with it. Photographer Shin Misik has been traveling through local towns, taking beautiful family photos and framing them for the families to keep. These portraits, framed and delivered to their homes, offer a tangible memory that celebrates their unity and the spirit of Fihavanana.

Through this dual effort of providing nourishment and preserving family memories, we aim to support the people of Madagascar in both practical and emotional ways. Strengthening family bonds, helping children establish a strong sense of identity, and offering comfort to those who may feel isolated are central to our mission.

We will continue to build on these efforts, bringing hope and harmony to more communities. Please stay connected with us for future updates on our work.
