Gfoundation Hosts Handong University Students for Global Leadership Program
Over the summer, seven students from Handong Global University in Pohang, South Korea met and visited with Gfoundation as part of a special internship program organized by our church partner Pilgrim Mission Church designed to inspire and equip the next generation of global leaders.
During this visit, students were introduced to Gfoundation’s mission, ongoing programs, and future vision in international development and humanitarian aid. They also learned about Gfoundation’s role within the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), where we were granted special consultative status in 2021.
The program gave students a firsthand look at the important impact of NGO activities and emphasized the skills and perspectives needed to grow as responsible world citizens.A highlight was their visit to the United Nations Headquarters (UNHQ) in New York City, where they enjoyed a guided tour that included visiting the iconic UN General Assembly Hall and the Security Council Chamber.
Here are some personal reflections from the students:
“Visiting the UNHQ felt like seeing international cooperation come alive showing me that even with the gap between ideals and reality, this global stage still carries profound meaning.”
-Hwang Ji-Won, Class of 2021, International Studies/Economics
“The visit to the UN revealed both the complexity and collaboration of the international community, expanding my perspective on humanity and reminding me of the role I am called to play.”
-Jung Si-Hyun, Class of 2020, Urban Planning/Construction Engineering
“Visiting the UNHQ wasn’t just about seeing an international organization—it was a turning point that opened my eyes to how deeply interconnected global challenges are and showed me that true vision comes from looking at the world through God’s kingdom.”
-Oh Jungeun, International Studies/Counseling Psychology
Looking ahead, Gfoundation plans to continue mentoring and supporting Handong students in developing new internship and volunteer opportunities. Through these initiatives, students will gain practical experience in the nonprofit sector while discovering ways to contribute to meaningful causes that serve vulnerable populations around the world.
Overall, Gfoundation remains committed to creating pathways for young leaders to engage with global issues, fostering a new generation prepared to bring positive and inspiring change to the world.
