This summer, GFoundation welcomed seven students from Handong Global University in South Korea as part of a global leadership internship program organized in partnership with Pilgrim Mission Church. The visit introduced students to international development, humanitarian work, and the role nonprofit organizations play in creating positive change around the world.
Learning How Nonprofits Create Global Impact
During their visit, students explored GFoundation’s mission, international programs, and long-term vision for serving vulnerable communities.
They also learned about GFoundation’s Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), gaining a broader understanding of how nonprofit organizations can contribute to international dialogue and sustainable development.
The program provided students with practical insight into the responsibilities, challenges, and opportunities involved in nonprofit leadership.
Connecting Classroom Learning with Global Experience
A highlight of the program was a guided visit to United Nations Headquarters in New York City.
Students toured the General Assembly Hall and Security Council Chamber while learning more about international cooperation and the work of the United Nations.
For many participants, the experience connected concepts they had studied in the classroom with real-world examples of diplomacy, humanitarian cooperation, and global governance.
Reflections from Future Leaders
Throughout the program, students shared how the experience broadened their understanding of global issues and strengthened their desire to contribute to meaningful change.
One student reflected that visiting the United Nations demonstrated both the complexity and importance of international cooperation.
