GFoundation Visits Concourse House Women’s Shelter and Expands Hygiene Kit Support
At the beginning of May, GFoundation had the opportunity to visit Concourse House, a women’s shelter in the Bronx founded by the Fordham Bedford Housing Corporation in 1991.
For more than three decades, the women’s shelter has supported women and children through safe transitional housing, social services, and long-term pathways toward stability and independence.
How This Women’s Shelter Supports Families in the Bronx
Currently serving 44 women and children under the age of nine, Concourse House provides far more than temporary shelter.
During our visit, we were warmly welcomed by the Recreational Coordinator, who introduced us to the classrooms where children participate in after-school activities, along with the community garden and playground spaces designed to foster creativity, joy, and connection.
Seeing these spaces firsthand offered a meaningful reminder that women’s shelters can provide more than housing—they can create environments where families feel safe, supported, and encouraged as they rebuild their lives.
Supporting Residents Through GFoundation’s Women’s Shelter Hygiene Kit Program
As part of GFoundation’s Women’s Shelter Hygiene Kit Program, we were also able to deliver hygiene products to support residents currently staying at Concourse House.
Access to everyday essentials can make a meaningful difference for families navigating difficult transitions, helping reduce some of the daily burdens many mothers and caregivers face.
Through this women’s shelter support initiative, GFoundation remains committed to serving women and families with dignity, compassion, and practical care.
