More Than a Gift Bag: Honoring Mothers at Siena House

Supporting Mothers with Care and Encouragement This Mother’s Day

This Mother’s Day, GFoundation was grateful to continue our partnership with Siena House in the Bronx through a small but meaningful gesture of care for mothers in their transitional housing program.

To help mothers feel seen, appreciated, and supported, GFoundation prepared 27 Mother’s Day gift bags that were distributed during Siena House’s Mother’s Day brunch celebration.

Thoughtfully Prepared Gift Bags

Each gift bag included self-care and wellness items such as:

• Bracelets
• Gel manicure nail sets
• Hand creams
• Handwritten encouragement cards from GFoundation staff

These gifts were prepared not only to provide practical items, but also to create a moment of comfort and appreciation for mothers navigating difficult circumstances.

Recognizing the Emotional Weight of Mother’s Day

While Mother’s Day is often associated with celebration, the day can also carry difficult emotions for women and children experiencing housing insecurity, separation, or grief.

For mothers living in transitional housing, everyday life often involves challenges and sacrifices that go unseen.

Through these gift bags, GFoundation hoped to remind each mother that she deserves dignity, compassion, and care.

Honoring Strength and Resilience

Motherhood often comes with quiet acts of strength and resilience.

Thanks to the generosity of supporters, these mothers—who may rarely receive opportunities for rest or recognition—were able to experience a moment centered on encouragement and appreciation.

Sometimes, even small gestures can communicate an important message:
that someone sees them, values them, and is standing beside them.

As GFoundation continues its quarterly Women’s Shelter Hygiene Care Kit Program alongside Siena House, we remain committed to building relationships rooted in consistency, comfort, and compassion.
