Access to menstrual products is a basic need, yet many women and girls still face barriers to getting the products they need for their periods.

On September 3, 2025, GFoundation welcomed two fellows from (RED) to our office. During their visit, they donated 140 maxi pads to support our ongoing menstrual health and period poverty initiatives.

The visit created an opportunity to connect around a shared commitment to health, dignity, and access to essential care.

Connecting Global Health and Menstrual Health

Founded to fight AIDS, (RED) works with leading brands and companies to raise funds and awareness for global health programs and stronger health systems.

The fellows discovered GFoundation while researching local organizations working to address menstrual health needs. Their interest led them to visit our office, learn more about our work, and contribute menstrual products to support women and girls in need.

During our conversation, we discussed how limited access to menstrual products can affect daily life. For students, not having reliable period products can make it more difficult to participate comfortably and confidently in school. For women facing financial hardship or unstable living situations, purchasing menstrual products can add another burden to already limited household budgets.

Access to period products is not simply a matter of convenience. It is connected to health, dignity, confidence, and participation in everyday life.

A Practical Contribution to Address Period Poverty

The donated maxi pads will be incorporated into GFoundation’s menstrual product support efforts, helping provide essential period care items to women and girls who need them.

At GFoundation, our work to address period poverty includes providing menstrual products and hygiene essentials through programs and community partnerships. In addition to direct support, we work to build greater awareness of menstrual health and the barriers that can prevent people from accessing essential period care.

Every contribution plays a role in this effort. Product donations can help meet immediate needs, while community partnerships and public awareness help expand the conversation around menstrual health and period poverty.

Small Actions Can Strengthen Community Support

The visit from the (RED) fellows was brief, but meaningful.

Their decision to research organizations working in menstrual health, connect with GFoundation, and make a practical contribution demonstrates how individuals and organizations can take part in addressing local needs.

We are grateful to the (RED) fellows for their thoughtful visit and donation. Partnerships and contributions like these help strengthen a broader community of people committed to ensuring that women and girls can access the essential menstrual products they need.

Together, we can continue working toward a future where a lack of period products does not prevent anyone from participating fully in school, work, and daily life.
