In our ongoing mission to support underserved communities and single-mother families, GFoundation participated in the Paterson Block Party that was hosted by local organizations.
For years, this event has been a tradition in the neighborhood, where an entire block is transformed into a space of joy, connection, and care.
While the block party is primarily a fun day for children, this year, GFoundation took extra steps to care for the single mothers and women in the community who often carry the heavy burden of looking after their children.
To offer them a moment of self-care, we prepared a selection of face tints and lip glosses in various shades and colors. Our team even helped each visitor find their perfect match by testing the colors on their hands. It was heartwarming to see moms, who usually put their children first, take a moment for themselves and rediscover a bit of joy and vibrancy.
For children attending without their moms, we encouraged them to pick items for their moms and take them home as gifts. The excitement on their faces as they carefully chose colors for their mothers was incredibly rewarding. Some even selected additional items for the women in their extended families and communities, showing thoughtfulness and care for them. The teenagers who joined the event were eager to participate, testing out lip glosses themselves. We hope these small gestures not only added a bit of fun but also reminded these young women of the importance of self-care and valuing themselves.
Each year, the Paterson Block Party continues to grow in impact and participation.
As GFoundation reflects on the success of the Paterson Block Party, we’re reminded that small acts of kindness can have a lasting impact.
GFoundation looks forward to returning next year with even more thoughtful and needed items to support these families and ensure that everyone in the community continues to feel cared for.
