Providing Essential Hygiene Support for Women and Families Experiencing Housing Instability
GFoundation recently expanded its Women’s Shelter & Transitional Housing Support Program in Paterson, New Jersey, by delivering 40 Initial Hygiene Kits to two local shelter organizations: Hispanic Multi-Purpose Service Center (HMPSC) and Hilltop Haven.
Through this initiative, GFoundation provides essential personal-care items to women and families entering or living in shelter environments, helping address immediate needs while strengthening relationships with local shelter partners.
Expanding Shelter Support Through Local Partnerships
Supporting women and families experiencing housing instability begins with understanding the communities and organizations serving them.
During September 2026, GFoundation visited two shelters in Paterson, New Jersey, to deliver Initial Hygiene Kits and learn more about the residents and programs supported by each organization.
These visits were part of GFoundation’s ongoing commitment to expanding shelter partnerships throughout New York and New Jersey and providing resources based on the needs identified by local communities.
Supporting Residents at Hispanic Multi-Purpose Service Center (HMPSC)
Founded in 1976, the Hispanic Multi-Purpose Service Center (HMPSC) is a nonprofit organization serving North Jersey communities through social support programs designed to help individuals and families overcome barriers and move toward greater stability.
HMPSC supports a diverse population, including women, families, and older adults. In 2025, its shelter served 62 women and 120 children, reflecting the continued need for safe housing and supportive services in the Paterson community.
On September 17, 2026, GFoundation visited HMPSC and provided 20 Initial Hygiene Kits for residents of its emergency shelter.
During the visit, GFoundation met with HMPSC’s leadership team, including the Executive Director, Director of Administration, and Shelter Director, while learning more about the organization’s daily operations and resident needs.
Providing Essential Items During Shelter Transitions
Each Initial Hygiene Kit includes everyday personal-care items designed to support individuals as they adjust to a new shelter environment.
Kits may include:
- Shampoo and soap
- Toothbrush and toothpaste
- Lotion and personal-care items
- Other hygiene essentials
For individuals entering shelters with limited personal belongings, access to basic hygiene products can provide practical support during an important transition period.
HMPSC shared that the kits help provide residents with “essential items, comfort, and a warm welcome during a difficult time.”
This feedback reinforces the importance of providing not only resources, but also care and encouragement during moments of uncertainty.
Continuing Shelter Support at Hilltop Haven
As part of the same Paterson outreach, GFoundation also visited Hilltop Haven, another local shelter supporting individuals experiencing housing instability.
GFoundation delivered an additional 20 Initial Hygiene Kits to Hilltop Haven residents, bringing the total number of kits provided during the Paterson outreach to 40 kits.
Through continued collaboration with local shelters, GFoundation works to better understand community needs and provide practical resources that support women and families.
Strengthening Women’s Shelter Support Across New Jersey
The Paterson visits represent an important step in expanding GFoundation’s shelter support network in New Jersey.
By building relationships with shelter organizations, listening to staff and community needs, and providing essential hygiene resources, GFoundation aims to support women and families with dignity and care.
As the Women’s Shelter & Transitional Housing Support Program continues to grow, GFoundation looks forward to developing additional partnerships with shelters across New York and New Jersey.
