Summer Break Isn’t the Same for Every Child

Across communities like Louisville, Kentucky, and Syracuse, New York, local churches are opening their doors to create safe, welcoming summer camps for refugee children and their families who have arrived through local resettlement programs. These camps provide a place where children can build friendships, gain confidence, and experience a caring community during school break.
Why Do Summer Camps Matter for Refugee Children?
Adjusting to life in a new country can be challenging for children.
Many are learning a new language, adapting to unfamiliar schools, and building new relationships while their families establish new lives in the United States.
