Some moments deserve to be remembered forever.

For many families in Madagascar, owning a family portrait is something they have never experienced. With few photography studios available and the cost of traveling to one often out of reach, preserving family memories simply isn’t possible for many households.

Yet a single photograph can become far more than an image. It can celebrate love, strengthen family bonds, and remind children that they belong to something lasting.

Bringing Joy Through the Frame Our Moment Project

Through GFoundation’s Frame Our Moment campaign, photographer Shin Misik, who has spent years documenting the beauty and resilience of African communities, traveled across villages in Madagascar to photograph local families.

More than 80 families gathered together to share smiles, laughter, and moments they had never before captured. After each session, every family received a professionally printed and framed portrait to take home as a lasting reminder of their love and connection.

More Than a Photograph

For many children, it was the first time they had ever seen a printed photograph of themselves with their family.

Parents proudly displayed their portraits in their homes. Children smiled as they looked at their pictures together. What began as a simple photo session became a celebration of family, identity, and belonging.

These portraits preserve memories that can be treasured for generations while reflecting the Malagasy value of Fihavanana—the importance of harmony, unity, and strong family relationships.

Why Moments Like These Matter

Poverty often limits access to basic opportunities, including the chance to preserve important family memories.

While a framed photograph does not change every challenge a family faces, it can affirm something equally meaningful: every family deserves to be seen, valued, and remembered.

Through Frame Our Moment, GFoundation seeks to restore dignity alongside hope by creating lasting keepsakes that celebrate the strength of families and their communities.

Looking Ahead

Every portrait tells a story of love, resilience, and hope.

As this project continues, we look forward to reaching more families across Madagascar and creating memories they can cherish for years to come.

Together, we can help more families preserve moments that last a lifetime.
