Expanding Access to Books for Children in Madagascar, Ethiopia, and Cambodia
For children in communities with limited access to books and school libraries, having a place to read can create more opportunities to learn.
GFoundation Korea is working to expand access to books through Dream Libraries in Madagascar and Ethiopia and Mobile Libraries in Cambodia. Through these initiatives, children can access books, participate in reading activities, and spend more time engaging with reading.
Creating Spaces to Read in Madagascar and Ethiopia
GFoundation Korea has constructed four Dream Libraries in Madagascar and Ethiopia to provide children with greater access to books and dedicated reading spaces.
The libraries serve children in communities where access to books may be limited. In addition to providing reading materials, the Dream Libraries offer reading programs that encourage children to engage with books and learning.
By creating dedicated spaces for reading, the program aims to make books and educational resources more accessible to children in the communities it serves.
Bringing Books Directly to Children in Cambodia
In Cambodia, GFoundation Korea is taking a different approach: bringing the library directly to children.
Mobile Libraries are currently reaching more than five elementary schools, providing access to books for children who may not otherwise have easy access to a school library.
The initiative is designed to reach children in communities with limited educational resources, including children who may have difficulty attending school regularly due to work and students whose schools do not have libraries.
Rather than requiring children to travel to a library, the Mobile Libraries bring books and reading opportunities closer to where they live and learn.
Helping More Children Access English Books
GFoundation plans to continue supporting these libraries by providing English-language books for children in Madagascar, Ethiopia, and Cambodia.
By adding more English books to the libraries, we aim to give children greater access to reading materials and more opportunities to explore books in English.
Through both permanent Dream Libraries and Mobile Libraries, GFoundation hopes to make books more accessible to children who have limited opportunities to read.
