Packing with Purpose: 170 Gift Bags, Six Community Partners, Countless Moment of Care
Last week, in the quiet rush before Christmas, Gfoundation staff gathered around long tables piled high with gift bags, tags, and cards. Outside, the season promised joy and celebration. Inside, we were focused on something deeper: showing families remembrance, dignity, and care.
In celebration of Christmas 2025, Gfoundation prepared and delivered festive gift bags to 170 families (526 individuals) facing difficult holiday seasons. Each bag was filled with winter essentials like insulated tumblers, gloves, and hats, alongside essential hygiene items including shampoo, body wash, lotion, and sanitary pads.
The gifts were distributed to mothers and children living in women’s shelters, single-mother households, and refugee families across multiple communities, including the Bronx and Flushing in New York City; Syracuse, New York; Paterson, Clifton, Palisades Park, and Ridgefield in New Jersey; and Louisville, Kentucky. For children in refugee families, we also included block toys and craft kits to bring moments of joy and creativity.
These families were selected based on trusted recommendations from women’s shelters, partner churches, and local nonprofit partners. With the generous support of our donors and in-kind contributions from local markets and partners, every bag was carefully assembled to reflect the specific needs of each family. What truly made each gift special was the handwritten Christmas card tucked inside, sharing warm holiday wishes and encouragement with every recipient.

Mothers who received these gifts expressed deep joy and heartfelt gratitude, sharing how meaningful it was to feel seen and supported during a season that can often feel isolating and stressful. For many, this wasn’t just a bag of items—it was a reminder that someone cared.
