Sharing Mother’s Day Together in Syracuse

On May 11, in celebration of Mother’s Day, we had the joy of delivering gift packages to refugee mothers in Syracuse, in collaboration with the Korean Church of Syracuse.

This was our third visit to the community since last Thanksgiving and Christmas, and we were especially grateful to be able to honor Mother’s Day together this time.

With the support of generous donors and local partners, we shared 20 gift sets with refugee families—each one packed with care and appreciation.

What Was in the Gift Sets?

Each package included a thoughtful selection of personal care items and daily essentials, accompanied by a handwritten “Happy Mother’s Day” card.
We wanted each mother to feel seen, celebrated, and cared for—because dignity starts with the little things.

When One Mother is Seen, a Whole Community is Strengthened

For many refugee families, life in a new country can be profoundly isolating. But on this Mother’s Day, something shifted.

Through a simple gift and a sincere gesture, mothers felt seen—not just as caregivers, but as women with stories, strength, and value. Children responded with warmth. Families reconnected. Dignity was restored.

This wasn’t just about what was given. It was about who gave it, and how it was received—together.
Because when a mother feels loved, her children feel secure.
When a family feels supported, they begin to heal.

And when a community chooses to show up for one another,
hope doesn’t just return—it takes root.
