We have been building and renovating washrooms and hygiene facilities in Ethiopian schools, since March 2022.
In collaboration with KOICA, we implemented a Project for Improving Health and Hygiene in Public Schools
in Sebeta and Gelanguda, Sheger City, Oromia Region, Ethiopia.

Oromia is the largest region in Ethiopia, sharing its borders with every region of the country except Tigray. (Source: UNICEF Oromia Regional Brief)

Approximately 60 million Ethiopians still lack access to safe drinking water, contributing to 7% of the global water crisis,
and over 112 million are without basic sanitation facilities, with 22 million continuing open defecation. (ref. World bank)

Through these hygiene facility renovations, we are also connecting schools and communities to stable water supply.
Our including project will run from May 2024 to the end of December 2025, and it will benefit students of 10 schools in the Oromia State,
which contains Gelan-guda, Sebeta and Sherger City.

We visited Ethiopia to oversee our ongoing project and reached out to KOICA’s Ethiopia branch,
as well as the GFoundation branch in Ethiopia, to share our experiences and the current progress of our project.
Additionally, we visited the Korea International Volunteer Organization (KVO), which has experience in conducting projects similar to ours.

As access to clean water and hygiene are especially vital in terms of maintaining health and guaranteeing basic human rights,
we will carry on our project to provide clean and safe toilets and hygiene facilities in schools.
Your persistent and sincere attention to water and hygiene issues would be a great support that can make a huge difference.
