Last summer in Korea, the scorching heat and rising humidity created the perfect conditions for bacteria to thrive, making proper hygiene more important than ever. So, where should we focus most on maintaining cleanliness in our daily lives?
The answer is simple: the restroom.
In childcare facilities, restrooms see heavy use and wear down quickly. While small repairs can often be handled in-house, larger renovations require specialized skills and are often too expensive for facilities with tight budgets.
To help, GFoundation launched a restroom renovation project last spring, ensuring children have access to clean, safe, and comfortable facilities.
With support from Dr. Bronner’s, we renovated restrooms in two childcare centers. The children were overjoyed with the completely transformed facilities.
Let’s take a look at the incredible difference these renovations made!
Brand-New Restroom
At Facility A, which was built in 1984, this was the only restroom in the entire facility, aside from the one in the area where the children mostly spend their time.
After more than 40 years, this restroom had become outdated and turned into a place the children didn’t want to go. As a result, whenever the kids needed to use the restroom during activities, they would often walk a little farther to use the one in the living area.
And so, the renovation work began!
After years without proper maintenance, the restrooms required a full-scale overhaul to bring them back to life.

“I love this restroom so much, I wish we could switch it with the one in our living area!”
Thanks to Dr.bronners’ support, the children are no longer afraid to use the restroom. We are deeply grateful to the donors who gave these kids a safe and comfortable restroom! 🙂
A safe restroom, free from worries
At Facility B, there was a recent incident where the tiles on the restroom wall in the children’s living area broke and fell to the floor. Fortunately, there were no children in the restroom at the time, so no one was injured. However, it was a dangerous situation that could have easily resulted in a serious accident.
As tiles continued to fall, Facility B resorted to temporarily taping them up as a quick fix. However, with no way to predict when or where they might fall next, the restroom had to be closed for safety. With this support, a major renovation was carried out to replace all the tiles in the restroom.
All the old tiles were removed, and the work included plastering, waterproofing, and checking for any waterproofing issues.
The renovation was carried out carefully to ensure that the children using the restroom would be safe and not get hurt.

After the renovation, the children were amazed and overjoyed by their newly transformed restroom!
They were so excited that they began playing rock-paper-scissors every morning to decide who would get to use it first!
