The 6.8 earthquake that took lives in Morocco.

On September 8, a 6.8 magnitude earthquake struck the southwest of Marrakesh, Morocco, and just 19 minutes later, a 4.9 magnitude aftershock occurred. Two days later, on September 10, another 3.99 magnitude aftershock occurred.

According to the Moroccan Ministry of the Interior, 2,122 people were killed and 2,421 injured, most of whom were in critical condition (as of September 10, 2023).

Moroccan residents lost their homes and families, they are still afraid of not knowing when another aftershock will occur. Rescue support continues to be needed due to the damage being so severe that up to 300,000 people are expected to be affected.

However, in the Al Haouz region of the Atlas Mountains, where more than half of the total deaths, the rugged terrain, and weak road conditions are hindering rescue teams, and there are still missing family members that need to be found.

Survivors search for their families with their bare hands.

A powerful earthquake struck Morocco along the Atlas Mountains, blocking major roads due to falling rocks. Villages across the Atlas Mountains are receiving no help despite being only an hour or two from the city. In places beyond the reach of aid, survivors were forced to dig with their bare hands to save their loved ones and friends.

“I can’t ask for help from the outside because both the electricity and the phone are out. But we can’t wait any longer for someone to come to our rescue. Our family is inside the collapsed building. “We are trying to rescue survivors using our bare hands, hammers, and rocks, but the situation is not conducive.”

“There is no shelter, so I sleep on the street and it’s too cold. I wish I had clothes and bedding. We need a safe and warm shelter. “We are so hungry and thirsty.”

GFoundation seeks to provide relief to areas with the greatest needs.

According to the Washington Post, the worst-hit region is the poorest region in Morocco needs great help, but relief has not yet reached it. While waiting for outside support, the victims are being recovered and mourned at the scene.

Survivors must somehow continue their lives while waiting endlessly for their families and rescuers. Even at this moment, Morocco desperately needs at least one helping hand. We plan to use the valuable donations from our donors to provide urgent emergency relief supplies (food, daily necessities, sanitary products, etc.) to neighbors suffering from the earthquake. The victims’ lives are at risk right now. We ask for your warm interest and support so that they can return to a safe life.
