Through GFoundation’s disaster relief efforts, emergency supplies reached people who had lost their homes, belongings, and daily routines almost overnight. We are grateful to share how your support helped bring relief and hope during a difficult time.
Responding to One of Korea’s Most Devastating Wildfires
In late March 2025, a major wildfire swept through Uiseong-gun in North Gyeongsang Province, destroying nearly 80% of the region’s forests.
Driven by dry weather and strong winds, the fires spread rapidly, forcing hundreds of families to evacuate as homes and neighborhoods were damaged or destroyed.
As emergency needs continued to grow, GFoundation mobilized quickly to provide immediate assistance while planning for longer-term recovery.
Providing Relief Every Step of the Way
Through five phases of emergency response, GFoundation provided relief supplies and recovery support to 11,598 people affected by the disaster.
In addition, support from GFoundation US helped provide emergency relief kits to 107 wildfire-displaced residents, offering practical assistance to individuals and families facing urgent needs.
Our response included:
- Emergency Relief: Water, blankets, hygiene products, and other essential supplies delivered to evacuation centers immediately after the fires.
- Everyday Essentials: Socks, underwear, and personal necessities for families who evacuated with little notice.
- Recovery Support: Tailored recovery kits and hot meals for people staying in temporary shelters.
- Continued Assistance: Burn care supplies, first-aid kits, and additional recovery items to help families through the rebuilding process.
Recovery Continues Beyond the Emergency
Disaster recovery does not end when the fires are extinguished.
Families often face months of rebuilding as they replace everyday necessities, restore their homes, and regain a sense of stability.
