A new community library in Madagascar is almost ready to open its doors.

In the rural village of Ambohidratrimo, 166 students at EPP Amboasary Elementary School will soon step into their very first school library in Madagascar built specifically for their community.

But there is one urgent problem. The shelves are still empty.

Expanding Access to Education in Madagascar

Access to quality education in Madagascar remains limited—especially in rural areas.

Many children share outdated textbooks, and most have no access to storybooks or supplementary learning materials outside the classroom.

In fact, more than 95% of Malagasy children lack learning materials beyond basic school-issued books.

This community library in Madagascar is designed to change that reality by providing structured, long-term literacy support.

Why Books for Children in Madagascar Matter

Providing books for children in Madagascar is more than a symbolic act.

Books:

  • Strengthen early literacy skills

  • Improve language development

  • Expand critical thinking

  • Increase long-term educational opportunity

For rural students, access to English and French storybooks—paired with Malagasy translations—creates a foundation for broader academic growth.

This school library in Madagascar will serve students from Grade 1 (T1) to Grade 5 (T5), offering carefully curated materials selected in collaboration with local teachers.

A Sustainable Education Project

This is not a temporary book drive.

Gfoundation is committed to the professional management of this nonprofit education project from day one. The library will serve as:

  • A permanent literacy hub for rural students

  • A base for a future mobile library program

  • A sustainable investment in children’s education support

Construction is nearly complete. Rising costs and civil disruptions, however, have created a funding gap that now affects the final step—stocking the shelves.

Donate Books and Support Literacy in Madagascar

You can help provide books for children in Madagascar and expand access to quality education.

  • $20 provides one children’s book

  • $30 provides a book and funds local translation

  • $100 supports a small classroom collection

  • $200 helps stock an entire library section

Your donation supports long-term literacy support for rural students and strengthens access to education in Madagascar.

Opening Doors to Opportunity

When this community library in Madagascar opens, 166 children will walk inside for the first time.

Let’s ensure they are welcomed by shelves filled with books—not empty space.
