One year ago today, a devastating 6.8 magnitude earthquake struck Morocco, leaving countless families shattered. In moments, lives were forever changed, as people lost their homes, loved ones, and sense of security. With the destruction surrounding them, survivors were forced to dig through the rubble with their bare hands, desperately searching for their missing family members and neighbors.
In response to this tragedy, Gfoundation, in collaboration with local partners, launched emergency relief efforts in November of last year. Our team traveled to areas where displaced families lived in temporary tents, providing crucial support and hope for those affected.
Thanks to our donors’ generous contributions, we could distribute shelter kits, basic medicines, and essential supplies to help these families survive the harsh conditions.
Our relief work didn’t stop there. We partnered with local and Korean doctors to provide psychological support and medical care, addressing both the physical and emotional scars left by the earthquake. As a result of these combined efforts, over 300 families in the mountainous regions of Marrakech have been able to take steps towards recovery, gradually returning to a sense of normalcy despite the overwhelming loss they have endured.

Today, with continued support from the Korea Disaster Relief Team, we are providing educational containers for after-school programs, essential food supplies, medical care, and much more.

One particularly meaningful initiative involves delivering nutritious lunches to children at risk of malnutrition. In a region plagued by economic instability, we have been able to provide balanced meals, including chicken, stir-fried vegetables, bread, and yogurt, ensuring that children receive the nourishment they need to thrive. This program has been met with great satisfaction from local communities, offering a glimmer of hope in an otherwise difficult time.
What we often take for granted—stable homes, safety, and regular meals—has become an unreachable dream for many survivors of the earthquake. The road to recovery is long, but together, we can help rebuild their future.
We must never forget the tragedy that struck Morocco one year ago.
As we remember their pain, we remain committed to continuing our work, reaching out to those who need us most. Join us in our mission to bring hope and relief to those still suffering.
