5th of May is Children’s Day in Korea! This official holiday in Korea celebrates children (where it’s similar to their birthdays) and every child receives special gifts.

It started in Korea with a man named Bang Jeong-Hwan in the 1920s. He believed that children deserved more at the time. It began with a social movement in 1922, and then the first Children’s Day in Korea was created on May 1. Afterward, in recognition of Labor Day, which is also celebrated on May 1, Children’s Day was then changed to May 5. However, not every child in Korea gets to celebrate this happy day. Children in childcare facilities don’t have the privilege of receiving the presents they want.

At GFoundation, we sent presents to the childcare facilities to celebrate Children’s Day in Korea through a giving campaign. We hope to provide the children in childcare facilities the same privileges as other kids. Please keep in touch with our child sponsorship project.

Happy Children’s Day!
