Almost four months have passed since the devasting earthquakes struck southern Türkiye and northern Syria on February 6. The civil war in Southeastern Türkiye

and Northern Syria claims 9 million lives. The affected regions in both countries continue to face significant humanitarian needs.

Gfoundation immediately mobilized a relief response team to Türkiye two days after the earthquake struck, and we are persistently engaged in supporting projects

for the recovery and reconstruction of the affected areas. In the immediate aftermath of an earthquake, the most urgent concerns are basic needs such as food and

shelter. Gfoundation primarily focused on providing emergency food and hygiene supplies, prioritizing activities aimed at ensuring the lives of the survivors.

Under the leadership of the Turkish government, the international community is actively engaging in systematic reconstruction and restoration projects. Securing

sustainable housing and restoring urban functions is crucial. Moreover, due to the significant extent of damage caused by this major earthquake, the

government, private and international organizations are collaborating in various areas.

Guided by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA) and the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD),

while specialized organizations in various sectors are tirelessly working to restore the damage, Gfoundation is actively engaged in initiatives focused on Water,

Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) as well as Food Security and Livelihood (FSL).

Securing a clean and safe drinking water source is extremely important. As the weather warms up from April, increasing temperature creates a favorable

environment for water-borne diseases to thrive. Therefore, access to clean water is crucial for the health and well-being of those affected by the earthquake. With

Gfoundation’s accumulated expertise in domestic and international health and hygiene practices, as well as collaboration with the Turkish Red Crescent, water

treatment systems are being installed in the camps for the disaster victims. Our objective is to ensure the provision of safe and purified drinking water.

Gfoundation has swiftly mobilized an emergency relief response team, extending support to 25,000 individuals thus far. As our new project aimed at enhancing

water treatment capacity, our goal is to provide sustainable access to safe drinking water, benefiting approximately 130,000 people.

Despite our efforts to secure water and food supplies, the journey towards restoring normalcy is far from over. Both Türkiye and Syria need more than a momentary

burst of assistance. We humbly ask for ongoing attention, support, and consistent dedication to ensure the restoration of normal life for the affected communities.

Gfoundation stands as an unwavering support for Türkiye and Syria, dedicated to remaining by their side until the day when we once again envision a brighter

future.
