A magnitude of 7.8 struck Southeast Turkey and Northern Syria

A devastating earthquake with a magnitude of 7.8 struck Southeast Turkey and Northern Syria early in the morning at 04:17 in February and the following day, another deadly earthquake with a magnitude of 7.6 occurred in the same region at 13:25. Following the powerful earthquake, aftershocks of up to 6.7 magnitude continued to hit the region, leaving the people in endless fear and sleepless nights.

“We are left in the dark with no help. It’s been 19 hours since the earthquake and Grandpa and Grandma are still trapped under the rubble.”

Initial response

From the moment of the crisis, GFoundation’s disaster response team headed to the site, prioritizing finding people who need help and assisting them with needed supplies. “GFoundation supports those families who are waiting to be rescued and the children out on the streets. We are assessing the situation and providing them with what they need.”

Flowing Towards Hope: Access to Clean Water

GFoundation immediately mobilized a relief response team to Turkey two days after the earthquake struck, and we are persistently engaged in supporting projects for the recovery and reconstruction of the affected areas. In the immediate aftermath of an earthquake, the most urgent concerns are basic needs such as food and shelter.
